Orientex Foods is the same company as Ramar Foods, known for pirating the brand names Magnolia Ice Cream and Pampanga’s Best from the Philippines.

Filipino Americans are currently boycotting all products and sponsored activities of the Ramar / Orientex Foods company.

Ramar Foods (also known as Ramar International Corporation) is an American company known for pirating the trademarks of iconic Filipino food brands, including Magnolia Ice Cream and Pampanga’s Best.

Most Filipino Americans wrongly assume that Ramar Foods is a licensed distributor of San Miguel Philippines, particularly since Ramar has made it a point of printing on the packaging of their Magnolia meat products the phrase “Distributed by Ramar Foods.”

Nothing could be further from the truth. Ramar Foods does NOT have a licensing agreement with San Miguel… Ramar Foods is NOT a distributor of San Miguel… Ramar Foods is producing “Magnolia” ice cream and other Magnolia-branded items totally without the cooperation of San Miguel… In fact, Ramar has sued San Miguel Philippines to prevent San Miguel from using its own Magnolia brand, a brand that San Miguel created and has been developing and promoting in the Philippines since the 1920s.

Think about that: Magnolia is one of the most iconic brands of the Philippines… It was created in the Philippines by San Miguel, a company that employs tens of thousands of Filipinos who worked hard to develop quality products. Yet in the United States it is not a Philippine company that is benefitting from the goodwill that San Miguel has cultivated among Filipinos. Instead, a totally unrelated American company is profiting from the confusion.

Putting aside the Magnolia issue, Ramar Foods has also registered the famous “Pampanga’s Best” name — shutting out the Philippine company from being able to sell its own goods in the United States. The original Pampanga’s Best of the Philippines can sell their products to our kababayan in the Middle East, but it cannot in the USA. Instead, this American company has been profiting from the Filipino-Americans’ familiarity with the Pampanga’s Best name.

Para maliwanag ang isyu na ito sa mga nalilito… Ang kumpanyang San Miguel ng Pilipinas ang naglikha sa Magnolia brand noon pang 1920s, pati na ang kilala nating oval na logo. Ganunpaman, mayroong isang kumpanya sa California (Ramar Foods) ang nagrehistro sa mismong logo at pangalan — sinasabi nila na sila lang ang may karapatan na gumamit sa brand and logo kahit hindi naman sila ang naglikha at nagpayabong sa pangalan. Nakikisakay lang sila sa pinaghirapan ng iba.

Walang licensing agreement ang Ramar at San Miguel.

Ang Ramar Foods ay HINDI distributor ng San Miguel.

At kung akala ninyo Magnolia lang ang pinuntirya ng Ramar… wait, there’s more. Nirehistro rin ng Ramar ang pangalan ng “Pampanga’s Best.” Kaya ayun, hindi makabenta sa USA ang orig na Pampanga’s Best.

Huwag tangkilikin ang mga nagnanakaw sa Pilipinas. Ang mga tatak na Magnolia at Pampanga’s Best ay pag-aari ng mga Pilipino. Bagaman nakalusot itong Ramar sa pagpaparehistro, hindi ibig sabihin ay tama ang ginawa nila. Ang sinumang lumaking Kristiyano ay nakakatanto sa kung ano ang tama at kung ano ang imoral.

At kung akala ninyong mas mahusay ang isang Amerikanong kumpanya sa isang kumpanyang Pilipino… bakit halos taon-taon sinususpindi ng USDA ang pagawaan ng Ramar?

Hindi porket nasa Amerika, mas magaling na sa Pilipinas.

Totoo na iilan lang ang mapagmamalaki nating mga bagay, lalo na pagdating sa mga marka ng kumpanya. Ang Amerika may Ford at Mcdonald’s. Ang Japan may Toyota. Punta kayo sa Korea, alam nilang lahat kung ano ang San Miguel Beer.

Tapos nanakawin pa ng mga hudas ang mga pinaghirapan ng Pilipinas.

Huwag po tayong magpaloko. Manindigan tayo. Ang daming mapagpipilian sa Amerika at Canada. Walang sinuman ang may lehitimong rason na bumili ng produkto ng Ramar. I-boycott po natin ang garapal na kumpanyang ito.

At ipaalam po natin sa ating mga kababayan ang sitwasyon. I-Facebook. I-message. Tuwing nasa tindahan tayo, kausapin ang katabi. Huwag tayong walang imik sa pinaggagawa ng mga garapal na ito.
